Garlic Fest

First, of hopefully many more to come, Garlic Fest united us with garlic breath, at NEOB Lavender Farm, Sept 15, 2012.

Niagara Essential Oils & Blends (NEOB) first ever garlic festival was a great success. Lovely fall colors and woven baskets full of produce, and lots of warm knitted handicrafts, garlic growers, garlic product vendors and one-of-a-kind crafters from all over Southern Ontario displayed their wares for purchase and perusal.

Hourly presentations from cookbook authors and farmers, about how to farm garlic, braid garlic and prepare recipes, live music and an adjacent antiques barn, kept everyone engaged. Delicious samples of dips, sauces, raw garlic and even garlic fudge. Some serious contemplation for the garlic connoisseur with several varieties of garlic on offer, and farmer-specialists ready to reveal the nuances of the different breeds. Although some claim garlic is an aphrodisiac, skip this as a first date outing for sure, you will happily taste (and smell) of garlic when you’re through.
