Locals and tourists alike love this charming bakery as a spot to sit and read the Arts Section over the shoulder of a dressed down Shaw performer. A glass window allows guests to play voyeur on the talented work of Pastry Chef and Chocolatier, Catherine O’Donnell, and her team, as they create; artisan loaves, croissants and decadent masterpiece desserts.
The Chocolate Silk Tart with its dark chocolate crust, filled with rich truffle and creamy caramel centre, will satisfy the pickiest of chocovores. It’s the melt-all-over butter tarts in scalloped shells, however, that are Willow’s delicious claim to fame. Catherine proudly credits her Nana’s recipe; with no chemicals, additives or preservatives, that deserves the recognition. For lunch, inventive sandwiches like apple, brie and prosciutto simply satisfy. At Willow, the vibe is lovely, the space is beautiful and the well-humoured staff are also a treat.
