Town and Country

One happening little fruit stand, every neighbour in Ridgeville lines up to get their farm-to-fork dinner ingredients for the evening’s culinary creation.  Fresh, fresh, fresh, the food is piled high in baskets. Big, plump, juicy peaches, and Roma tomatoes, which are portioned and ready-to-go for Italian sauce-making Saturdays.

Joe and Tereza Hozjan have been running the farm and fruit stand for over 25 years since they moved to Niagara from Montreal.  They’re a busy, hard-working family, whose getting up there in years, but who haven’t lost a bit of spunk.  The picturesque country pastures and Victorian homes down Canboro Rd, from Ridgeville to Wellandport, make this little fruit stand a great pit-stop and a beautiful drive (or cycle) through the Niagara countryside.

Winter – call ahead for apple pick-up at St. Catharines market.

Do you have bushels of roma tomatoes and if so what is the cost?

I live in Stoney Creek and will drive if I can be assured that there will be some for me.

Please respond asap.

Hi Cynthia- I believe they do have bushels but can’t say for certain. It would be best for you to call them directly to be sure.

This farmer does not grow anything, they purchase their produce from suppliers. Many times a lady working at the stall would say their stuff is organic but it’s definitely not. The eggs he claims that are from free ranging chickens are actually the ones you get at the grocery store. Please be conscious of what you purchase.
