Thirty Bench Wine Makers

Thirty Bench, with all its barn-board, romantic-rustic visions delivers a warm, unpretentious experience surrounded by stunning natural vistas. Far from a big showstopper winery mass producing wines, here the focus is on creating ‘Small Lot’ low-yield, hand-crafted, premium wines on estate vineyards. Riesling is Thirty Bench’s signature.

The Riesling vineyard is separated into sub-zones; the ‘Steel Post’, ‘Wood Post’ and ‘Triangle’ vineyard, respectively.  Each of these zones within the Riesling vineyard produce different characteristics in the wine.  Only four acres in size, the ‘Steel Post’ is the most award winning, the 2010 Small Lot garnered 94 points by Tidings Magazine. Winemaker Emma Garner, a Brock U: Oenology and Viticulture Grad, loves fermenting them at a low temp to retain the aromatics that give their wines their layered complexity.
