A dramatic blue ceiling with gold accents, earthy wooden elephants and tall Buddhas confidently makes claim to the downtown Welland space. Owner, Niri runs other Thai restos in Grimsby and Toronto, and her experience shows.
Peanut Chicken curry (Penang) is displayed beautifully, with crisp green beans to add crunch, colour and style. The Penang curry sauce is smooth, silky and sweet. Pad Thai is wrapped in an egg blanket and the fish sauce is punchy. Most dishes seem to have more of an emphasis on sweet rather than hot, so don’t be shy to order the spice up a notch. Lunch specials are good value; a main with soup and a spring roll for $9.50. Green Mango salad is spot on. Dessert favourites include mango sticky rice and honey fried banana.
