For lucky office workers and starving students, the St. Kitts farmers market, open three days a week year-round, serves as a grocery hub and meeting spot, keeping the spirit alive since the mid-1800’s. Set in a glass pavilion, this market is a veritable who’s who of the Niagara farm and food scene. De la Terre, Cheesy Guys, Home Town ice-cream’, ‘Vanessa’s Cupcakes’ and the ‘Itty Bitty Pie Company’, the grocery list goes on. Some fan-favourite vendors work the international beat; Falafel from Tonami’s, tortillas from Eh Jose, and sprout burgers from Live Food.
Some vendors are seasonal, some just on Saturday. Locals know when to go and for what. Resident food-blogger, Tiffany Mayer of Eating Niagara fame, says ‘pillow-heads’ checking in at 11:30 will have missed all the action. So, plan to come early when supply and demand are not mutually exclusive.
