Set on a rolling, picturesque 27 acres, owners Christine and Hugh Scholaert, are creating a true farm-to-table destination, complete with an experimental farm, restaurant and tea room. Stratford-educated, Chef Ryan Beck, has created a menu of farm-fresh, seasonal bistro fare and afternoon-tea; french-onion soup, cheese plates with sourdough raisin bread and fresh berry pie. The Table d`Hote High Tea includes watercress on brioche with cream cheese, shrimp salad, prosciutto and Five Brothers cheese with ice-wine mustard, scones with preserves and butter, mignardises and sweets.
Still there’s more to discover here; for the eco-crowd, there’s a bio-dome to explore, for the artist, The Scholaert Cassel Gallery, and for the history buffs, the in-restoration Ward Manor. For those dreaming of the good life in Niagara, this is a property to watch. For the locals, it’s the perfect mid-week escape to relish in Niagara’s culinary renaissance.
