The bright red, farm stand appearance belies the big-name reputation of the Pillitteri Estate Winery. An unending parade of visitors line every room for tastings, patio sipping, and strolls through the farm market stand (buses stop here in droves all weekend long). The length of the building is designed into small intimate sections, giving guests an opportunity to explore and feel at home, even in a crowd.
A third generation family affair, founded by Gary Pillitteri in 1993, Pillitteri stands proud as a leader in the Niagara wine tradition, wining over 600 distinguished awards; Les Citadelles Du Vins, Civart Trophy, Effervescents Du Monde, to name a few. Aleksandar Kolundzic, winemaker since 2010, continues in stride, adding multiple labels, keeping Pillitteri ever-fresh and always at the dinner table. Alongside signature high-end labels, like the Exclamation Series, produced only on best cellar years, and the Family Reserve label, current trending brands include; Bad Company, Daredevil, Antagonist, Protagonist and Sushi Wine. Pillitteri is also the largest producer of Icewine. Hot and heavy for the food truck scene, gather here Friday – Sunday and you’ll likely catch a food truck wowing crowds on the open patio.
Tasting Fees –complimentary, with tips to charity. Icewine – flight of 3 for $8.
