A Victorian brick-beauty of a century home welcomes visitors in jeans and t-shirts to the casual tasting room located in the grey metal barn, behind a row of pines. Concrete floors ground the bright and sunny garage and invite guests to linger over barrels to discuss their favourite tasting. Resting gently on 95 acres of land across from the lake, Palatine is a family affair.
John and Barbara Neufield have worked the land since 1972 when it was originally a fruit orchard, and now their children follow suit. John is in love with the land and its history and has found many an artifact (arrowheads, bullets, old pipes) from the 1800’s in the soil while working. He keeps his collection in a glass case next to the tasting bar, and it ties in nicely with their official wine of the War of 1812 display.
Tasting Fee $3 – 5 for a themed flight of 3 wines.
