A fave spot for visiting Royalty, commoners and students, the NC Wine Visitor and Education Centre has capitalized on its central and picturesque location along the Niagara Escarpment to offer an extensive interpretive wine-country experience. True to its educational roots, the Teaching Winery, the only one of its kind in Canada, welcomes visitors with an informative multi-media display where guests can swipe their way to digital know-how of Niagara terroir, production and sales.
Not simply a retail outlet for students to practice wine sales, the winery is a full teaching laboratory which includes a 40 acre vineyard and production facilities. A humble chalkboard on the wall announces what the students are currently working on, tuning visitors in to the harvest and teaching cycle of recognized winemakers Terence Van Rooyen, and assistant winemaker, Gavin Robertson.
The Wine Visitor and Education centre is a signature “Niagara College Learning Enterprise” where eager students take part in an intoxicatingly attractive lifestyle career and are happy to bring the guest along for the ride. NC Icewine is a fan favourite, proving to be a comparative bargain; the souvenir crowd loads up.
