Keeping downtown Welland on the foodie map, Matteo’s Ristorante attracts for its menu of wood-fired pizzas, home-made pastas and traditional Italian favourites. Owner Matt Rudroff warmly orientates guests; clearly revealing his pride in the heritage of the menu and the quality of the ingredients.
Guests include neighbouring Italian chefs on their day off, date-nighters and office folk who appreciate fresh ingredients in a casual mid-week meal. Many are drawn for the thin-crust pizzas (try the trapanese, or margerita) but it is the entrees of fettuccine with rapini, lobster ravioli and veal marsala that evoke comfort and nostalgia.
