Malivoire Wine Company

Mailvoire is hands-down innovative, unique and cool.  A small footprint tasting room with soaring ceilings reveals that the design delight is in the details. Metal accents and a hand-crafted, aluminium chandelier draw attention to the glass wall framing the steel production tanks above.  In contrast to airier showcase wineries, Malivoire is moody and enveloping.  Even the vineyards make you work a little harder for the experience, they are a reward for those who make the effort to follow the gravel road “up around the bend”.

Sustainably minded, Malivoire composts cuttings and harvests by hand, reducing the use of heavy machinery, emissions and soil compaction. The gravity flow production facility, (a refurbished Quonset hut), adds to the agri-industrial composition.

Martin and Moira Malivoire had a vision for this Canadian vineyard where the “soil, climate, grape varieties and winemaking methods must yield results equal to or better than those anywhere else where wine grapes are grown”*.  The showstopper is the deep heartwarming red, 2009 Old Vines Foch, Albert’s Honor, which is a French hybrid vine cross-breed.  Cult-like status follows this wine; locals can be seen sniffing around waiting for the new vintage to appear.

Tasting Fee $5 for 4.  Waived with purchase of one bottle.
Bottles from $11.95 – 39.95

My favourite winery and tasting experience so far. I love it here, especially when Cheesy Guys have their cheese truck there, YUM.
