Comfort food in the finest sense, eating here makes you almost dizzy with bliss. Tucked away on the East Side of PoCo, this was the former home of the owner, Lucy Maresca, who immigrated from Italy (a few) years ago. She started this little place, with a precious, secluded backyard patio with fountains and gardens, and private dining rooms that were the original living and dining room of her home.
The food, simple and straightforward, is full of rich, robust flavours of slow-simmered tomatoes, basil, garlic and olive oil. Gnocchi are hand-rolled and the meatballs are a little bit of heaven. Fruitti di mare with linguine in marinara sauce draws Niagara locals and expats alike, all who keep coming back to this unexpected little corner of culinary delight. Now standing in as well-loved landmark, Lucy’s, near Joe’s Meats, arrived when the neighbourhood was thriving with work from Inco.
