Dan and Darlene inherited this family fruit farm and continue in Dan’s father’s traditions. The Haist family has been farming in the area since the 1840’s; sour cherries, peaches and grapes. With most of their crops being marketed to larger local production facilities, the Haist’s open their arms, and their hill during peach season to passers-by with a hand-painted white plywood sign: ‘Peaches up hill’. Bee boxes line the drive, tucked in the woods. On a clear day, from their perch on the escarpment, you can see to Port Colborne and across Lake Erie.
