Set high on the Beamsville Bench and nestled atop the Escarpment, Fielding is framed by views of forests, vineyards and Lake Ontario. The design of the wine lodge has a refreshingly open air feeling, with wall to wall windows, high ceilings, exposed beams and an interesting interplay of light and shadow from the skylights above.
Fielding was named Canada’s Top 10 Wineries within the first five years of operation, and again in 2013. Fielding entered 20 wines to be judged at the 2013 National Wine Awards, 16 of them came home with medals, the reasons; the terroir, the soil, the quality of farming, the wines themselves, but most importantly, according to the Fielding family; the team.
Curtis Fielding, President, Grape King of 2012/13, and lovely wife, Heidi, Director of Sales and Marketing, were both recipients of the 40 under 40 award and were finalists Young Farmers of Canada. Winemaker Richie Roberts, a Niagara native, who graduated from Brock U’s Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture Institute, also won Business Link’s Top 40 under 40, creates wines with great skill and patience, that are, like himself, energetic, unique, and push the boundaries of innovation and experimentation.
