Upping the style game, Balzac’s brought edge, coffee and beautiful tiling, to NOTL’s heritage-town scene. One of six cafe’s owned by Diana Olsen, this anti-chain is still small, boutique and beautiful. Lovers of the original Toronto Distillery District Balzac’s will find signature details; graphic floors, subway tiles, high-top tables and an outdoor patio to watch the action (horse and buggies lined up outside the Prince of Wales, and a major pedestrian intersection with throngs of day-trippers, honeymooners and the spa-dazed). It doesn’t get busier than this in NOTL. Coffee is roasted in Hamilton and features all the current requisites; small batch, hand-crafted, and sustainable.
