Afternoon Tea. Prince of Wales Hotel, Drawing Room

Bite-sized cakes and and dainty sandwiches piled high on silver-tiered trays make Afternoon Tea in the Drawing Room of the Prince of Wales Hotel a Niagara experience where ceremony takes centre stage.

Traditional Afternoon Tea is a real testament to the regal history of the area, and a trip back in time when European upper class would gather for tea; think Marie Antoinette- pinkies up on a bone china tea-cup with a mouthful of exquisite cake.  Surrounded by a sparkling old-world atmosphere with decadent décor and chandeliers, refreshed weekender guests dine alongside dressed-down locals hosting their grandmothers for a slice of nostalgia.

Afternoon Tea, scones, pastries and sandwiches $33 per person.

Wonderful ambience. Excellent and friendly service. Unfortunately the food did not match the build up. The sandwiches were very substandard – where was the ham, salmon missing, poor bread. Black tea without Bergamot is Black Tea and not Earl Grey. Have enjoyed afternoon teas in the London Savoy, Four Seasons Toronto, Windsor Arms Toronto, Bishop’s Palace New York, Waldorf Astoria New York, etc. – far superior food for comparable price. Disappointing that the Prince of Wales is so far behind – it has a perfect location and is well placed to be memorable.

I definitely agree with The last comment. The ambience was lovely and the scones absolutely to die for. The sandwiches weren’t that great. Lack of flavour and a total lack of salmon etc. I’m trying it again this Saturday afternoon. I hope we’ll have a better experience

I hope to see some comments that the sandwiches have improved, before I go to NOTL in August. Considering the tea with my two adult daughters

My sister’s and I had high tea on March 23. We were very disappointed in the food. The sandwiches were stale. And the offering of sweets were not up to a standard that I would expect at such a beautiful hotel and the cost of $34 per person. However the tea that was recommended was delicious. I would not recommend this to other people.

Very disappointed in our High tea on Thursday October 12th 2017. The cup of tea was good but the sandwiches, and pastries were tired and dry and would not be considered acceptable in an English Drawing room. It was overpriced for what we received. Even the menus were worn and scruffy. Don’t waste your money until the standard is improved.
