A big red barn with an old Massey Ferguson tractor makes you think this is a feel-good, home-sweet-home kind-of-place. However, stylish urbanites, bohemian romantics and in-the-know locals flock to 13th Street Winery for its bespoke, modern appeal. A turn of the century farmhouse has been transformed by owner Karen and Doug Whitty, into a warm and intimate tasting room with French oak floors, white walls and a private art gallery.
A bakery tempts guests to enjoy charcuterie or flatbread pizzas along the tasting bar’s verandah with a glass of a Gamay. Winemaker Jean-Pierre Colas, native of Chablis, creates method traditionnelle Cuvée sparkling wines and the small estate lots are hand-picked and sorted. Not shy of a good time, 13th Street Winery plays seriously on the special event scene, hosting events like; the Hand-Made Market, and the idyllic ‘Outstanding in the Field’ dinners.
